Headcolds, ughh!

I caught Maddie's cold on Sunday night. There goes a week of work, pretty much (I called all my clients and offered them the chance to rebook. Most decided to do that.) Sigh. I'm torn between wanting to lament the costs of self-employment and recognizing that I was in fact looking for a break in my very busy schedule to take care of things around the house. (How subconscious *are* our immune system crashes, anyway?) So, the upstairs is *finally* decluttered and cleaned, after several days of pecking away at it, and tomorrow I'll get to work on the taxes. It's a good thing. Really.

Your blog looks great. It makes me want to start my own. You have a great family.

Enjoy your down time with your "sickness". I truly believe that illness is really a system that breaks down from stress and poor care...so I guess it was your time.

What I love most about recovery from illness, is the contrast between illness and wellness. I love to wallow in that state of gratefulness that there was an end to my breakdown and the realization that the body is a truly wonderous miracle.

I keep trying to get my head around the idea, as I understand my pathology instructor to have explained it, that health is a process -- a returning to homeostasis -- and that being sick isn't a lack of health but actually a demonstration of our inherent ability to heal -- our symptoms are really the body's response to the pathogen and a sign that our immune system is working, not a sign that it is run-down or damaged. I'm not sure I'm entirely with him on this but his comments have shifted my thinking and made me feel less down about getting sick...
(and I replied to your comment a few posts down as well, encouraging you to create your own blog!)

Hey, Well this is the first blog I've ever seen...uh, interesting and a bit weird too, in a California way. (smile) From this posting...can you guess who? Think east of the Mississippi. I was curious about what a blog looks like. I can't say it is my cup of tea, I guess I'm more old fashioned and wouldn't think folks would be that interested in my discoveries, but it seems to suit you Sue and it is very nice to see you out here in hyperspace or whatever they call it. I can almost hear the kids and what can I say about my baby brother?

peace out

Howdy Jeff!
Well, at least you visited! Sorry the blog's not to your taste -- I can see how it would be too introspective and revealing to many people. The funny thing is, I don't feel like I'm being authentic enough with it!
I'm enjoying writing on it. I find it very useful and interesting to take a step back from day to day life and see if I can find anything to say about it that isn't just a laundry list of activities. Getting a slightly larger perspective on my life is freeing and inspiring, in a curious sort of way. But I'm sure it's much less interesting to the rest of the world. Ah well. Hope you all are well and Becky's not wearing herself out being there for her parents right now...
Love,
Sue
